These dedicated men and women put their lives on the line on a daily basis to protect and serve the residents of Stephens County. The division also has specialized personnel and specialty teams. Unlike local municipal police agencies, the sheriff is constitutionally mandated to enforce all state laws and county ordinances. Extra Patrol Request
The Operations Division operates on four, 12-hour shifts. These law enforcement officers work either a permanent day or night shift. Each deputy on the shift is assigned a specific zone to patrol. This allows the deputy to become familiar with his/her beat, and the people who occupy it. Using this format, the Sheriff feels the department offers the best means of providing the entire county with the security and protection it deserves.
Members of the division use community policing as a means to better understand the needs of the residents and create an information exchange corridor. These deputies generally drive marked patrol cars and are deployed in areas where our crime analysis process has identified a crime trend. They investigate the problem, attempt to identify and arrest perpetrators, and prevent further criminal activity. In addition, they apprehend wanted individuals and provide other services directly related to the prevention of crime and the apprehension of violators.
This division operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and its deputies are the first responders to crimes committed within the physical boundaries of Stephens County. Uniform Patrol deputies provide emergency response in life-threatening situations and non-emergency assistance to a variety of criminal, traffic, medical and civil matters as well as natural disasters that may impact the overall quality of life. These deputies provide a full range of law enforcement services to the residents of Stephens County.
