Course Description:
The Field Training Officer Program combines on-the-job instructions with objective evaluation and documentation, thereby enabling students to incorporate the best method within their own
department. This course is open to any certified law enforcement officer. To successfully complete the course students must achieve a minimum score of at least 70% on a written examination.

Topics for discussion will include:
• Developing an FTO Program
• Motivation
• Case Studies
• Legal Issues
• Counseling & Instructional Techniques

Special Notes:
The course is open to any certified law enforcement officer. To apply for certification, you must have three years of law enforcement experience (two years with present department).  


All courses will begin at 0800 hours. Students are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early to locate the training site, ensure they have all the necessary equipment, and get settled in before the beginning of instruction.

proper mindset, threat awareness, and skills needed to improve an officer's odds of
surviving various dangerous situations. Officers will receive training in firearms skills,
patrol tactics, defensive tactics, vehicle stops, domestic disputes, and building
searches.

Special Notes: This is a core course for P.O.S.T. Intermediate Certification.

Developmental range exercises will include engaging multiple targets; failure-to-stop drills, engaging moving targets, and decision reaction. To successfully complete the course students must achieve a minimum score of at least 90% on a performance examination.
